Jazzedelics
AlbumJazzedelics is a band based on a simple question: What if the seminal rock giants of the 60s had written their songs in a jazz format? Jazzedelics is the brainchild of singer/percussionist Tony Jones and guitarist Doug Perkins based on a simple premise: what if seminal rock giants of the 60s had written their songs in a jazz framework?
To bring this idea to life, they needed the talents of Larry Steen on electric and upright bass (Dave Weckl, Eric Marienthal, Mose Allison, Bob Sheppard, Jimmy Buffet, Bennie Maupin), Chris Smith on keyboards (Jefferson Starship, Supremes) and David Anderson on drums (Larry Carlton, David Benoit, Stanley Clark, Chaka Khan, Eric Marienthal). With music from Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Animals and others, Jazzedelics is a mash-up band that will excite audiences looking for something familiar but out of the ordinary. |
Reviews
"They have reimagined a dozen of the iconic songs of the psychedelic era with a generous dose of inventiveness they call "mash up." The record opens with "Fire" by the perennial heavyweight, Jimi Hendrix, who continues to cast a lengthy shadow over guitarists, even a generation later. Jazzedelics guitarist Doug Perkins is no exception to this influence, and delivers an array of classic chords, leads, and harmonic recreations throughout the entire record."

"This band churns out some amazing music! It’s modern and traditional in more ways than one, with many interesting twists in the tune, and may I say, these twists are sometimes unimaginable! Those rock classics all embroidered with a jazzed up arrangement- Wow! I really enjoyed the Cream classic- Sunshine of your love. The vocal harmony and instrumentation is incredible! The Stones’ Satisfaction, Hendrix’s Fire, The Beatles’ For no one, Eight miles high, all made for great listening and appreciation of musical genius!"
